  • What does an evaluation consist of?
    An evaluation begins with a detailed consultation to understand your concerns and history. We use standardized tests and/or informal assessments to evaluate various aspects of communication. Observations are made during structured tasks and natural interactions. Input from family or caregivers may also be gathered. Finally, we provide feedback on the findings and discuss potential treatment options, interventions, and training plans.
  • Do I have to live in California or Colorado to receive services from Story Speech Therapy?
    Yes, due to Speech-Language Pathology licensing laws, our telepractice services are only available to clients residing in California or Colorado. If you're interested in our services and live outside these states, please reach out to us.
  • Do you take insurance?
    No, we do not accept insurance at this time. We operate through a HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) and practice management software, SimplePractice, on a private pay basis only. Please contact us for pricing information. However, we provide superbills, which are detailed invoices that include all the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that while we provide the superbill, we cannot guarantee reimbursement and do not handle any direct communication with your insurance company.   • What services do you provide?
    Story Speech Therapy specializes in providing comprehensive speech therapy services tailored exclusively for adults. Our offerings include targeted interventions for: speech, language, cognitive-linguistics, and accent modification. We focus on enhancing communication skills, cognitive function, and speech clarity to support your personal and professional goals. Please note that while we excel in these areas, we do not offer direct services for dysphagia therapy. Please reach out for more information.
  • Do you solely provide telepractice services?
    Yes, we exclusively offer telepractice services through a HIPAA-compliant video conferencing program. This ensures that your sessions are both secure and convenient, allowing you to receive effective therapy from your location of choice.
  • What does scheduling look like?
    Our typical business hours are Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. MST. We work with you directly via video conference, phone, or email to find a time that fits your schedule. If these hours don't fit your schedule, please reach out to us. We’re flexible and happy to work with you to find a convenient time for your sessions.

Session recommendations may change over time depending on the ongoing assessment and guidance of your treating speech-language pathologist. We adjust our approach to ensure it aligns with your progress and goals.
